I love this photo by Sally Mann. It's called Candy Cigarette. I find it heartbreaking and beautifully amazing all at once. It's simple; no fancy trickery, no adornment. She uses damaged lenses and all sorts of lo-fi techniques.

I love when a photographer can really capture the soul of their subject, regardless of their age. I tend to not favour photography of people because a. I and most others suck at capturing that soul and so b. I find most portraiture flat and uninspiring.

When I come across stuff like this, I change my mind a little bit and sort of think that I might have some ideas of my own.

O.K. this is sort of creepy and gross but also fascinating and weird. It's about time someone took that little gluttonous bastard down.

This is a real album and although I suspect it might suck harder than anyone at the party it's intended for, I sort of need a copy. Then again, seeing as it's listed for nearly $200 US on ebay, I think I'll have to live without.

That's a great shot, that candy cigarette thing.

I should only be so lucky to get captures like that for my people photo galleries.
