It's really hard not to have a romanticized idea of war in our heads, at least of WW2 anyway. Movies show people separated by war and then reuniting and it's all just so very...but I'm sure in real life few things can be worse.

I guess we need movies to help make life less ugly, but sometimes those movies remove our ability to see reality clearly too.
