super ridic busy at work, we have a yearly conference in June and I produce every bit of printed material including an 8'x3' banner and a master catalog sample, help, I'm swamped!
You may have noticed I don't generally complain in any specific way about my work on here. I don't normally have much to complain about; I like my job well enough and even though it takes place in an office at least it provides a semblance of a creative outlet on a day to day basis. One thing does make me CRAZY every year at this time though. If you do any work with graphics then you probably understand the following complaint.
OK, so like I mentioned one of the things I create is a banner. A very LARGE banner. This banner displays the logos of companies involved in the conference. These companies have to send me their logo so that I can place it on the banner. Simple enough, right? Not so much. See, I tend to receive gif images pulled straight from their websites at 72 dpi and at a size of oh, let's say 1" x 2" inch if I'm lucky... And then they simply cannot understand why I can't just streeeetch or enlarge this image to make it work on the banner.
Anyway, I think this is probably not a very interesting thing to read about if you aren't involved in working with images, so I'll stop now. I just wanted to share what is making me want to rip all my hair out right now. Let's just say that it is hard to explain your job and it's requirements to people who have once or twice "designed" a flyer or something in MS Word and now believe that they have the inside scoop on the simplicity of the design world.
In other news (ha, how lame was that? Do you ever feel like your blog is just one neverending "Christmas Newsletter" like some fools send out every year?) I have a bunch of strawberries bursting to ripeness, I'll show you pics later, I have NO TIME for anything right now, sigh, I need June to come and go and yet I don't want to rush the summer either, it's kind of a dilemma, one that I obviously have no control over being as I don't have a time machine, so really no dilemma at all, can you tell I'm losing my mind?

I feel the same way; I want it to be June already so I can be on vacation... but also for it to not-be, because then that's two weeks of summer gone.
I know, it's a tough call! I guess looking forward to anything is like that; you want it to happen, but then you sort of don't because it's over!
I've always found it extremely difficult to explain image resolution to non-graphically-oriented people.
Hell, it was hard for me to understand it way back when, too.

I was notorious in elementary school for always singing that song because my mum always sang that song and I thought it was toooo funny but I'd never actually heard it before until now.

it's a weird song. I had it on this ridiculous record called I think, Funky Favourites or something...all joke songs, when I was a kid.
