Purple Carrots
I grew these purple skin carrots from seed; quite the accomplishment for someone like me (meaning I can barely keep plants alive in my house). Getting LOADS of tomatoes too. Looks like the broccoli might not happen though.

2 dirty hippies blowing your mind:
an 18 year career as a chef and I never handled anything other than an orange carrot, I know there are lots of colours but no others commercially grown (not here in oz at least) I should grow my own vegies, hmmm need soil though... DOH!
yes it was super satisfying to grow these from seed...but like you said, you need the soil to do it! My radishes failed as did my broccoli. My tomatoes grew like gangbusters (what does that even mean? I'll have to google the origin of that).
I'm hoping that next summer I'll be in a country house with a much bigger garden, better soil and lots of cool veggies to eat!
