Today would have been a great day to have off work, it's mild, it's lightly raining, the sun was peeking out, I could have gotten some decent photos this morning. Now it's fairly grey but I like it anyway, it's clearing away all the ugly dirty snow from the streets. This sort of day reminds me of being small and walking to school for some reason. I had a terrible habit of impaling worms with my umbrella, children are cruel, it's true.

Tonight it's Vietnamese for supper, is that healthy? I suppose if I avoid the fried stuff it is. OH, I haven't smoked since before Christmas, totally cold turkey rejection, it IS absolutely possible to quit through willpower, but you have to want it. This is not bogus advice, as someone who LOVED smoking, everything about it, I couldn't quit in any way, shape or form until I really had decided to just do it. Then, that's what you do, you quit, right? Yes. Funny thing is, after you have been away from smoking for awhile, you really notice when people smell like smoke etc. and you start to develop a distaste for the smell, at least I have. I think this time, I have quit forever. I smoked off and on (mostly on) for over 25 years.

Food is a tougher one for me. I'm not an over-eater by any stretch of the imagination BUT we eat out far too often and that tends to give you more calories than if you prepare your own food. I can almost never finish a restaurant portion but still.

As soon as this cold clears up I'll be back on the treadmill (it's pretty difficult to exercise when you can't breathe!) I have a lot of plans for outdoor activity this year, hopefully even more so than last year and I'd like to be in some semblance of shape so that it is fun and not painful.

I hope we can get some canoeing or something in, the most fun thing I think I did last year was sea kayaking, so amazing and relaxing even while working out your arms, you don't even notice, not when seals are popping up all around you and you are bobbing along on the water. Yeah, forget the canoe, I'd rather get some kayaking in this year, probably not sea kayaking but still.

That reminds me, I had video of the sea kayaking but I'm not too sure where the camera is that I took the video on. It must still be in a bag somewhere...

Thanks!

Ha, yes I have a friend who used to use the patch and then smoke while it was on, I decided it probably wasn't the most effective route.

I have fairly good willpower. I know that any time I failed at quitting it was simply that I wasn't quite ready to quit and I made the decision to cave.
