Giant Flowers, Fake Summer

We're members of the Royal Botanical Gardens (that's kind of old person, isn't it?) so we can go hang out there whenever we like which is kind of cool even though it probably doesn't sound like it is.  Dudes, I'm straddling that line between old and almost old pretty hard anyway, one of these days I'm just gonna slip right over.

Anyway, there's a glass show going on and things are blooming and you can bring your lunch and hang out in there surrounded by good smells and tropical plants and I ask you just what is wrong with that?  Not much.  So we are gonna do the lunch thing there.

I never realized that those Birds of Paradise flowers (which I hate by the way) came off a tree and some of them are MASSIVE, we are talking like 2 ft or so massive (the flower part, the tree itself is god...a couple of stories high).  There's your botany lesson for today.

This is also where the Koi pond is and basically this place is pretty much where I want to live as far as home features go.

There's even a store there that we get a discount in and I've already bought a couple of completely useless wooden mushrooms and flower necklace.

This is a good "pretend it's summer" place until it actually is. Also, right across the road is a place to get foot long hot dogs, you really can't beat that.

I adore Botanical Gardens. For heaven's sakes, it's not "old", it's lovely!

I love the necklace!

I like those Bird of Paradise flowers. I never knew they grew quite that big! They can be very expensive to buy.
