Lump It

The internet is a funny thing. I say this because of course we all woke up this morning to the news of the earthquake and Tsunami in Japan. A terrible thing. And then comes the judgment, that somehow if you don't talk about this thing on your blog or your twitter or your facebook, you are a bad person.

I've experienced these sorts of accusations in the past, specifically with the last large Tsunami that happened in 2004. That accusation of not caring was offensive to me (and actually completely bizarre, I mean why does anyone feel the need to tell someone else what they do and do not care about?) because in fact I had a very close friend directly affected by that Tsunami who at the time I was extremely concerned about. I guess my point is this: MY blog is NOT a news blog and if I choose to write about daisies and dog poop today or any other day, then so be it. And if you don't like it, you can freaking lump it. (what the hell does that mean anyway?)

As it turns out, I DO know a fair number of people in Japan; I did spend nearly 5 years working at a language school and we had many, many Japanese students in that time. I sincerely hope that they and their families are safe. And there you go, now I've written about it.

Does this make me a good person God, now that I've made my feelings PUBLIC? Because as we all know, nothing is valid until it's revealed on the INTERNET.

We have become so used to everyone putting everything online that we expect it now.
