Because we only have an antenna we get some pretty weird channels that normally aren't available here at all. One of them is called Antenna TV and it only shows old programs. It got me thinking, WHO is the most annoying 70's/80's sitcom character?
I'll give you a few to choose from.
Monroe from Too Close For Comfort. Was he supposed to be gay? Because he had to be gay, right? I actually don't even like this show, but sometimes it comes on and I can't be bothered to change the channel, just like in the 70's when you'd either put up or physically get up to switch the channel (and NOBODY wanted to do that). I bet a lot of shows lasted longer than they should have before the remote became popular.
Anyway, Monroe was always barging into their house, flouncing around but not good flouncing in that stereotypical TV gay "oh you are so fabulous" way, just reeaaaaaly annoying, borderline "call the police" flouncing because of course, he wasn't meant to be gay which is just completely unrealistic.
Chrissy from Three's Company. I know she was meant to be hot but really? Raggedy Clown is more like it. And the never ending stupid faces!! Her character's personality really wiped out any hotness. I'm sure there are men who might beg to differ, but they are probably remembering her posters and stuff, like this:
and not the stupid faces and bad makeup like this:
Gloria from All in the Family. She was always pulling dim bulb faces too. And that voice! That voice would make Helen Keller grateful for her lot in life. She wasn't particularly cute or likeable. Actually, I didn't understand this character at all, she was mostly just awful, in fact, on several episodes, she was a nasty, whiny bitch.
Michael "Meathead" from All in The Family. Both Gloria AND Mike were super annoying. He NEVER shut up! He also really came across like a big ass puss. Ugh. Archie had a lot of good points to make about this lazy, pointless free-loader.
I KNOW there are more of them but I wanted to stick with shows that I am currently watching for now.
