About a Roof

So we are getting pretty well settled into our new house.  I LOVE everything about it, the old wood, the beautiful work around the doors, the tall baseboards, the stained glass...it's my dream home and it doesn't feel real sometimes that I'm finally living my dream!  If you haven't seen it, it looks something like this:

As you can tell, it's an old Victorian (1895) and all details and original work is intact (including that funky Widow's Walk up top!).  Except for the roof.  It has a steel roof now.  I don't even know what the original roof looked like.  I'm assuming it was black?

I know that a steel roof is probably the best route they could have gone and it likely means we have a maintenance free roof for the duration of our living there.  But do you think it looks strange with the rest of the house?  Is it super noticeably more modern than the rest of the house?  I don't really think so but I'm not positive.  Would it have looked better with a standard roof, something like one of these?

It seriously doesn't bother me, hey, I'm happy to not worry about it, but sometimes I wonder what it would look like with a more traditional roof on it.

Honestly, who would have thought I'd ever be pondering questions like this?
