Taxi
One of the more common forms of transportation from one place to another by tourists is also one of the more expensive. If you go outside of any casino in Vegas, you will see a line of taxi cabs waiting for visitors and if you don't, all you need to do is have a casino host or porter hail one for you.
If you choose taxi's, realize that you are going to pay a premium over other forms of transportation. However, there is one advantage to taxi's and that is that they are available 24-7. If while out checking out the nightlife in Las Vegas you find that you have had a little too much to drink, you can always find a cab to get you home safe.
Las Vegas Transit System
The Las Vegas Transit System is another option for you to get around Vegas if you are not in a big hurry to get to your destination. Busses run a couple of times an hour and will run to many of the major spots in the city.
The plus to the bus is that you will travel pretty cheap. The downside is that it is public transportation, and comes with all the risks of typical public transit. Also, if traffic is bad on the strip, you will be stuck a while.
Casino Shuttle
Some casinos offer shuttles for getting around Vegas depending on your destination. Some will only take you to specific casinos that they are affiliate with and others will take you to a set number of locations.
Your casino host will be able to tell you about what shuttle service they provide. If you are going somewhere near a casino serviced by a shuttle, this could be a quick and free mode of transportation.
Renting a Car
The last option for getting around Vegas is going out and renting a car for your stay. With your own vehicle, you have a lot more control over where you go, but at the same time you have the extra costs involved, including parking, tips, insurance, etc.
Depending on when you are going to Vegas, sometimes you can find good rates online or even bid on your vehicle on a site like Priceline. Also, you can also take trips to other parts of Vegas or locations outside of Vegas not easily or cheaply reached by other modes of travel. These destinations include Hoover Dam, the Grand Canyon, Mt. Charleston, and more.
