Home away from Home

what the EFF guys, traffic to my site from Thursday to Friday dropped by 87%, what is that about?

So I was away this weekend.  Let's review a few things then.  Here's a tour of the cottage. I love going there because in a lot of ways it fulfills my lust for a similar type of home for my everyday life.  Obviously I don't own this place or I'd just move there full-time.  It's my parent's.  I tried to make these shots fancy for you, see how I'm always thinking about people?

Here's a view of the front yard from the kitchen.  That's the garage out there.

Here's a view of some of the surrounding area.

and another.
This bedroom has the best bed and is super comfy.  It has a very vintage wallpaper.

This one is kind of like a retro princess room.  I should have waited until the bed was remade to take the photo.

This one has a goofy nautical theme.  It's big and comfy too.

The upstairs living room is very large and full of windows.  This is the view down to the lake.
Living room again.  I love the coffee table in this room.  It's an antique scale.

It has a nice fireplace too.

The kitchen and dining room are nice and roomy and there's lots of wood which I love.

There are two fridges, one for food and one for booze.  Not really, but it often sort of works out that way.

Even the pantry has a lovely little window with a view full of trees.

Here's the upstairs TV room, more casual than the living room, bright and airy, two skylights.

And the downstairs TV room.  It's quite large and has a cute wood stove and a sliding door out the back.

Same room, different direction.
and one more view.  Poker table.  I don't know how to play poker.

OK, there are a couple more bedrooms, but I didn't photograph them.We are incredibly lucky to have this place to get away to for sure.

this is an exterior shot from last summer, I didn't go out back this time because there was lots of snow but mostly because it was incredibly cold.  We are talking -30°C style cold.  That's 22°F!  We DID go out for a walk and man, I haven't had frozen legs like that since I was a kid!  The silence was amazing though and the snow was the cracking kind that makes that wonderful sound as you walk in it.

so last night we booked our first camping trip of the season!  Exciting, it makes me think that there might be an end to this winter after all!  OK, so I have to wait for nearly 5 months, but still!

might have something to do with your blog redirecting to some generic ad site. i had to hit my bookmark then race the cursor up to the browseer stop button to get it to load the blog page at all. just fyi. nice shots, btw -- i bet the cottage is beautiful in the winter!!

haven't you been up in the winter? I thought for sure you had! But I guess not?

Hopefully I've fixed that stupidity on the blog. I despise that sort of thing.

fixed!

and no, not winter proper when the lake is frozen and there is snow ... must be beautiful (from your vantage point sitting by the fire, that is)!

Oh good I'm glad that's resolved!

It is very nice and VERY silent! Also VERY cold! We went out walking and man, I haven't willingly gone out in that temperature for ages! Definitely refreshing!
